for joining us. one east bay neighborhood is waking up to closed streets, construction equipment and a watery mess. terry mcsweeney joins us live from pleasant hill with the latest on a frustrating water main break. what we call breaking news. terry? >> double breaker. broke eight days ago, broke last night here near cay cay way. they've still got the water coming out of the ground here. they say they're doing that to stabilize the pressure and they do have water back to the 40 homes and 100 plus people who were without water, again, since about 7:30 last night. not news to the people out here. it was eight days ago, the very same pipe broke in a different spot but the very same pipe broke. they were without water yet again. crews have come out. they have circumvented the break and getting water to the homes. the street though is in a very, very interesting location. four schools are located near here, including diablo valley college. so in about an hour or so, students start walking, parents start driving their kids to school and this becomes a very busy street. they hope to have the street

>>> welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm dave clark. >> i'm tortie campbell. >>> the u.s. coast guard begins to search the waters off marin county. it's in response to a frantic may day call. claudine wong has an update. >> good morning. i'm waiting for the coast guard to get back to me. we know yesterday, they spanned this area, from here, south to angel island. they are looking for the distressed caller. the problem is they don't know who or what they are looking for. all they know is a female caller called in a may day shortly before 10:00 last night. there was very little information. here's what the coast guard said this morning about that call. >> it was a woman calling, i have a may day. listen to me. listen to me. i have a may day. the coast guard of san francisco was able to reestablish communication with the woman. they never heard back from her. >> reporter: they also put out a call to other vessels for any type of distressed voters. they did send two vessels out on the water to search the waters for any sign of a distressed voter -- boater and that came up empty. they say

off richmond. ktvu's kraig debro is with two of the victims right now. what can you tell us? what did they tell you? >> reporter: well, four fishermen went out early this morning to fish for alba door -- to fish for albacore. right now, this boat is in the water. we can't see from here but thanks to everybody at channel 2 at the desk, it looks like we can see the boat is going down facility water. i'm going to talk to thomas deacon. he's completely soaked. he's been in the water. you must be cold. what do you remember? >> we went out, hit a wall, pulled one out. there was cpr. don't know about one guy. >> reporter: what did it sound like when you hit the rock wall? >> basically, a car accident. >> reporter: it must have been very dark at that time. >> you are right about that. >> reporter: what about the people in the boat with you at the time? >> one guy, i abbed ahold of him. i was trying to pull him in the boat. i seen another man go by. i tried to go by and grab him. i had too many clothes on. i went back, put my rain gear on, took my clothes off. got him to the edge of the boat.

shooting each other. from both sides of the street. police think an ak-47 was used. 50 rounds were found on the ground. no arrests have been made. >> a developing story gas leak that has been affecting a roadway in orinda. pg&e has told us they have finally capped this. this is that broke what road. let's go live there with jackie sizzle on the scene. >> pg&e have shut off the gas but brought no way is shut down cruise over here this is where the contractor that was working over night punctured to the gas line that cause the issues out here. they're still working out here but they are saying they are 15-20 minutes away from reopening parts of downtown orinda this is the third time in two days we've seen a ghastly this one was a contractor using a back hoe ruptured the main. >> yesterday was caused by construction crews as well. the concern is how long it takes pg&e to stop it. this has taken hours to shut off the lake. >> pg&e is defense a lot of times they're not on the scene when that happens it takes awhile to get here and figure out what line has been ruptured and they go through the

. anne makovec is at san quentin prison in marin county to tell us why. >> reporter: if the plan that was in effect on monday would have stuck, albert greenwood brown would be dead right now but he is alive behind me at san quentin this morning because of a decision by a federal judge last evening. brown would have been california's first execution in almost five years, but judge fogel suspended the execution until he finishes reviewing a lawsuit against california's lethal injection procedure. concerns that it's cruel and unusual punishment. if the first of three drugs administered doesn't work properly, the inmate could suffer extreme pain from the third drug which stops the heart. the family of brown's victim just wants it over with. here's her brother speaking about what it was like after his 15-year-old sister disappeared. >> i remember getting in the truck with my father and...
